Waters/Kinley is a band from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, most often performing as a duo but also as a four-piece band, using the same name. Rob and Chris have been playing together in various guises since 2001, when Rob turned up to Chris’ open mic night at Wilders on Carliol Square, in the city centre.
Their influences include Radiohead, Incubus, Ray LaMontagne, Anais Mitchell, Damien Rice, Jamiroquai, Jeff Buckley, Traveling Wilburys, Doobie Brothers, Del Amitri, Crowded House, Supertramp, Muse, Ben Folds, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, and many, many more.
As performers, they have mostly concentrated on cover versions of songs that they enjoy and, most famously, their version of “Together in Electric Dreams” by Phil Oakey and Giorgio Moroder was featured on a 2019 ad campaign for Strongbow cider.
